I have held onto certain things from my time away. I still have my Bible with the original bookmarks are used. One is county jail ID and another a commissary receipt. The rest are clippings I cut out of magazines or the newspaper. Some are significant and deep reminders, while others I just for laughs.
At least once a year, I sit down and thumb through the pages of the same book. I usually do this when I’m struggling with stress or other things that we all deal with in our lives. I am reminded of where it all started, and how I felt during those times. I remember how hard it was and how much work it has taken to get me to where I am today.
When I look at my old apartment and the picture of the place where I last used methamphetamine; I am reminded that anyone can change. When I look in my Bible, and I read the highlighted verses and the clippings, I am reminded of what was required of me and how it all came to be. When I see pictures of myself and my life today, I am reminded that God is real and He is Good.
Have a great week!
