Silence is power.
Silence is protest, revenge, respect, harmony, love, loss, emptiness, and grief. Silence is many things and silence is powerful. At times, we must break our silence and be heard by others. However, silence is often times the better choice.
When I am searching my deepest thoughts for the most effective words to speak, I often forget the power of silence. When I feel hurt, I may want to say something hurtful. When I am angry, I may have the urge to raise my voice in anger. When I don’t know what to say, I may consider saying something that doesn't make much sense. I don't want to do these things, so why would I?
When I remain silent, I am able to listen better. When I resist hateful speech, I allow room for patience & kindness to move in. I avoid being part of the problem. When I sit calmly and allow my anger to pass, I become a better man. Silence allows me to begin healing.
Silence can be much louder than your voice.
