One of the greatest gifts of recovery has been the ability to be physically and emotionally present for my family during the holidays.
Long before my addiction took me to treatments centers and incarceration, it had already taken me away from my my family. Mentally and emotionally, I was not present for my family for many years prior to going away to these places. As a direct result of recovery, I am now able to spend time with my family during the holidays and to be emotionally present and engaged with my loved ones.
Another wonderful gift of recovery has been my newfound perspective on the holiday season. It is no longer about stuff and what I might receive from people. It is now a season of giving, and a time to love those who are in difficult situations or those who are less fortunate. Let us remember to open our arms, our hearts, and our homes to those who need it most during this Christmas season.
I am so grateful for all of you. Blessings from our family to yours.
Merry Christmas! 🎄
