Many want the title or the position, but few are prepared for the responsibility that comes with it.
In the bodybuilding community, the saying goes “ Everybody wants to be big, but nobody wants to lift heavy *** weight. ”
In the streets, they say “ Everybody wants to be a gangster, until it comes time to do gangster ****. ”
Every community has their own version of this saying, I’m sure. The fact is that when we are called to fulfill a role, we must recognize and be prepared to handle the responsibility that comes with it. Being a manager isn’t about your fancy name tag or this being your big break in sobriety LOL Being the boss isn’t about controlling everything. These roles are about leadership and further development within our own lives and the lives of those around us.
As leaders, we must be held to a higher standard and we must also hold ourselves accountable. If we don’t, nobody else will. Resist temptation and behave well. Recognize when you don’t and address it accordingly. Don’t take the position lightly. Those who follow you will get whatever you put into your own development.
They get what you put in. Make it count!
Have a great week!
